Ja Morant took the big leap he needed to, in year three. Expectations were not incredibly high for Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies. However, if the Grizzlies did not begin to make any noise, chances were they would not. Instead of any slumping, Ja Morant had an MVP-caliber season. The Grizzlies, meanwhile, tied their best record in franchise history. In addition, the Grizzlies won their first ever division title, and their highest playoff seed ever.

Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies had the rare misfortune of being the second seed. The misfortune is rare, due to teams normally wanting to finish with a top two seed. However, with the Golden State Warriors falling to the third seed, the Grizzlies were on pace to meet them in the playoffs. Despite the Grizzlies having the huge 55 point lead, and the blowout win, they never stood a chance. Their inspiring season ended in Game 6 at Chase Center.

Ja Morant missed the final games of that series. Now, the offseason is here, and Ja Morant is taking in some basketball. He is watching the Grizzlies’ Summer League team play the Brooklyn Nets’ Summer League team. Ronald Segu is a guard for the Grizzlies, trying to show what he can do. Already, Segu impressed Ja Morant, as he unleashed a Kyrie Irving-style move. Ironically, Segu is playing the Nets, and he left their entire team dumbfounded.
