James Harden almost fights Kyrie Irving and elbows Kevin Durant
Anticipation was high for this game, as the Brooklyn Nets and Philadelphia 76ers played for the first time since the trade. After being upset by the Atlanta Hawks, in the second round, Ben Simmons refused to play for the Sixers. Meanwhile, with the Nets, Kyrie Irving has refused to get the vaccine, which forced him to be unable to play in the home games. For the first portion of the season, Kyrie didn’t even play at all. Now, he is playing road games.
An injury to Kevin Durant left James Harden as the Nets’ only star. This span of time saw the Nets drop from first in the East to out of the playoff picture. Currently, the Nets are battling for the eighth playoff spot, and look unlikely to take the final secured playoff spot. The Nets are on the outside looking in, as the Heat, Bucks, Sixers, Bulls, Cavaliers, and Celtics lead the East. Last night, they played the Sixers, and it looks like a rivalry is brewing.
While a rivalry may be brewing, the Nets easily got the upper hand last night. The game was a blowout win for the Nets, but James Harden got his licks in. Harden almost got into a fight with Kyrie Irving, at one point in the game. Later on, when Harden was driving the lane, he crashed right into Kevin Durant and elbowed him in the chest. Kevin Durant fell and slid down the court, as a result.
