Jimmy Butler misses crucial go-ahead shot to give Celtics the win
Jimmy Butler was trying hard to play in his second NBA Finals. In 2019, Jimmy Butler joined the Miami Heat in free agency. While the signing was considered big, the East was more focused on the Bucks, Sixers, and Celtics, at the time. Of all of those names and teams, Jimmy Butler’s Heat were the only ones to make the NBA Finals.
Jimmy Butler led the Miami Heat on an unprecedented run. As the fifth seed, Butler’s Heat upset the Pacers, first seeded Bucks, and the Boston Celtics. In the NBA Finals, they played LeBron James’ Lakers closer than anticipated. After getting within two wins of the title, the Heat were swept by the Bucks. This year, the Heat looked like they were going back to the Finals. Instead, Jayson Tatum and the Celtics got their revenge for 2020, like the Bucks.
Jimmy Butler was eager to return to the NBA Finals to face the Golden State Warriors. Butler played an amazing game. Despite Miami being down big, for most of the game, they had a chance to win it in the final seconds. Instead of going for a game-tying layup, Butler went for the three pointer, which missed. It was clear as soon as hit shot clanked that Boston was going to the NBA Finals. This offseason, Butler and the Heat will definitely have Game 7 on their minds.
