Uncle Murda – “Rap Up 2021” [VIDEO]

Back when New York City didn’t have a rapper on the top of the charts, there was a search for the next person to emerge. There was a time when Uncle Murda was viewed as this guy. In 2005, he signed with Roc-A-Fella Records, and Jay-Z thought a lot of him. By 2007, there were rumors of him releasing his debut album, but that never came to pass.

Uncle Murda would leave Roc-A-Fella Records, when Jay-Z created Roc Nation. After this, he would land his deal with Epic Records, which was a label deal. While the deal seemed promising, nothing came of it, and Uncle Murda was soon an independent artist, again. Since then, he has become known for doing his end of year recap song. With Mad Skillz’s retirement, it’s all UM’s now.

Uncle Murda dropped his “Rap Up 2021,” to much fanfare. After doing this for well over five years, he is the one people look to for their annual recap. Briefly, he and Skillz had a bit of beef, over them both doing yearly recaps. In the end, there was room for both of them, and now all of this belongs to UM, solely.
