Golden State Warriors vs. Dallas Mavericks | 2022 Western Conference Finals | Game 1 | NBA Playoffs [VIDEO]

Steph Curry and the Warriors rout Dallas Mavericks in Game 1

Steph Curry has enjoyed a resurgence in his career, these past two seasons. After the 2016 NBA Finals, Steph Curry made an unusual decision on behalf of the team. While Steph Curry would sign a historic $200 million extension with the Golden State Warriors, he took a step back. During the 2016 offseason, the Warriors signed Kevin Durant. With that, Kevin Durant became the focal point of the Warriors, a position that Steph Curry held.

Steph Curry already didn’t win Finals MVP, in 2015, despite being the Warriors’ best player. His decision to let Kevin Durant lead pushed him into a secondary role. Klay Thompson, meanwhile, was relegated to being a rotation role player. However, the selfless culture of the Warriors allowed the team to thrive and, ironically enough, Steph, Klay, and KD all got theirs. By 2019, the Warriors were used to playing this way, though there were signs of friction.

Steph Curry and the Warriors have not seen much success since 2019. Early this season, the Warriors were on pace for the 64-18 record the Phoenix Suns reached. While the Warriors went 53-29 in the regular season, they improved to 9-3 in the playoffs, so far. Many felt the Warriors were in trouble, facing the Dallas Mavericks, last night. However, Steph Curry helped spark the momentum carried out by guys like Andrew Wiggins, that led the Warriors to a Game 1 win.
