Brooklyn Nets trade Kevin Durant to Phoenix Suns, days after sending Kyrie Irving to Dallas Mavericks

Nets trade Kevin Durant to Nets after sending Kyrie Irving to Mavs

Earlier this week, the Brooklyn Nets quickly traded Kyrie Irving, after he demanded a trade request. He ended up on the Dallas Mavericks, as he will be pairing up with Luka Doncic, who is an MVP candidate.

However, the Nets weren’t done unloading their roster. In the early hours of Thursday morning, they traded Kevin Durant to the Phoenix Suns, as they have been targeting him since last summer. Durant asked for a trade at that time, but ultimately decided to remain in Brooklyn.

In this trade, the Nets are receiving Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder, four first-round picks, and a 2028 pick swap. In return, the Suns get Durant and TJ Warren. The Suns now have an impressive lineup which features Durant, Chris Paul, Devin Booker and Deandre Ayton.

At this point, the Nets are looking to trade Jae Crowder as well. Prior to the Durant trade, he had been wanting out of Phoenix. They currently stand at fifth in the Eastern Conference at 32-22, but may start dropping, due to the losses of Durant and Irving. However, Cam Thomas has been on fire lately, by putting up three straight 40+-point games.
