In 2016, Kevin Durant joined the Golden State Warriors and cemented them as the NBA’s most-hated team. All of this was in stark contrast to how the Warriors’ run began. Their rise to the top included the emergence of Steph, Klay, and Draymond as stars, and people loved it.
But, the 73-9 Warriors were so focused on their record that they let the bottomfeeder Minnesota Timberwolves beat them at home. Even before the Curry injury, that was a precursor of what was to come. But, the eventual blowing of the 3-1 lead made them historical losers.
Kevin Durant came in and helped erase the stigma of losing, but only got them 67 wins. But, he has Golden State 8-1 against Cleveland, in the past two Finals trips, but got injured before taking on Toronto. In the few minutes he had, KD had the Raptors working, but went down, leading to Twitter saying “Damn KD.”
