When it comes to true discount dollar stores, DG is becoming the Walmart of that industry. Now, it looks like the company is taking a real step in that direction with their own gas stations.
Dollar General was one of those stores that positioned itself well during the pandemic. As a result, they are continuing to grow, as their competition is closing down. So, as the company continues to grow, there are new opportunities. Many people shop at Dollar General, so the company is now trying out their own gas stations.
Dollar General has different kinds of stores for different kinds of areas. In some of the smallest towns and communities, the company has more grocery products. Those communities are likely to have no other option. However, in decent sized towns and cities, it functions as a regular dollar store. Presumably, the Dollar General gas stations will be something available in the small towns and the communities.
