Drake broke worldwide record for first-day streams, for a dance album, on Apple Music
Drake’s “Honestly, Nevermind” sets record for dance album streams
On June 17, Drake delivered fans his surprise dance album, “Honestly, Nevermind.” Drake initially made this announcement on his social media feeds, the evening before. Many fans expected Drake to deliver more big hip-hop and R&B records, but the bigger surprise was that it contained dance/EDM content.
However, Honestly, Nevermind received a lot of criticism on social media, as fans didn’t like Drake dabbling into the house genre, and didn’t believe he succeeded in it. This project contained 14 tracks, with the lone feature being from 21 Savage. That collaboration did turn out to be a hip-hop record, though.
But, despite Drake getting dissed for putting out a dance album, the streams are sky high. According to an Apple Music press release, Honestly, Nevermind broke the record for first-day streams worldwide, for a dance album, on Apple Music.
As well as the high streams, Honestly, Nevermind is also expected to be the number one album in the US, next week, on the Billboard 200 chart. According to Chart Data, Drake will score his seventh straight number one studio album, with between 210,000-230,000 units sold. Every studio album in Drake’s career has hit this debut mark.
