Fetty Wap’s “Trap Queen” lyrics used in his drug trafficking case

Fetty Wap’s 2021 federal drug trafficking case is still ongoing, as Fetty also remains in prison. As a result, he plead guilty to conspiracy to possess and distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine. Therefore, Fetty is facing 40 years in prison.

In addition to Fetty’s guilty plea, his song lyrics are also being used against him, according to The Fader. This is his 2014 breakout hit single, “Trap Queen.” Prosecutors claim it was there that he admitted to trafficking drugs, as well as in his 2022 hit single, “Sweet Yamz.” They stated that Yamz is a code word for grams of narcotics, as well as the money earned from that.

“[Fetty Wap] admitted to the Probation Department that his hit song ‘Trap Queen,’ which was released in 2014, was an ‘ode to a former girlfriend who assisted him a cocaine base distribution operation in Patterson, New Jersey. “The defendant was never held accountable for that conduct, but that does not diminish its significance. In the official video for ‘Trap Queen,’ the defendant also enlisted young children who stood behind him while he idealized selling drugs.”

Trap Queen peaked at number two in the US, on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It is also certified diamond, in the US.
