Yesterday, Gucci Mane announced that his new “Woptober 2” album would be on the way. This is also the sequel to his 2016 project. The East Atlanta also put out the cover art for him and it showed him on a table getting a massage.
It turns out there’s some significance of the cover art as it’s actually a collab that Gucci Mane is doing with the actual designer, Gucci. The high-end fashion brand took to their Instagram to say that this is the “ComeAsYouAre_RSVP” campaign. This is for their “Gucci Cruise 20” collection.
The campaign is conceived by Alessandro Michele and the art was directed by Christopher Simmonds. As many remember with Gucci, they got heat on social media back in January for releasing a sweater that resembled black face. Many celebs in the hip-hop community such as T.I. are still boycotting. Gucci underwent much changes in their diversity department but they have yet to truly show real changes. We’ll see if bringing Gucci Mane on board will do any justice.
He should’ve collaborated with Gucci way before they became problematic. Everyone is definitely surprised that this didn’t happen years ago since he uses their name in his stage name though. The Woptober 2 album drops on October 27.
