Gunna being released from jail after guilty plea
Gunna and Young Thug have both been incarcerated since early May, after a 56-count indictment was handed down. 26 other members of their YSL crew were also arrested. This was regarding a RICO case, as they’ve been investigated for a decade.
Thug and Gunna have both since been denied three times. Their trials are also scheduled for January 5. However, Gunna is now receiving some good news, regrading being released before the trial.
According to WSB-TV 2, Gunna is being released from prison. This is due to him pleasing guilty to a racketeering conspiracy charge. Gunna was in court in Wednesday, as a judge handed down this news. This was all part of an Alford plea, in which he plead guilty on one charge, due to it being in his best interest, while maintaining innocence on the same charge.
Stipulations of this plea for Gunna also include being sentenced to five years, with one in prison. The other four years are suspended and subjected to conditions, such as 500 hours of community service.
Thug also went on to release a statement, where he added that he won’t testify. However, he will be required to, legally.
“While I have agreed to always be truthful, I want to make it perfectly clear that I have NOT made any statements, have NOT been interviewed, have NOT cooperated, have NOT agreed to testify or be a witness for or against any party in the case and have absolutely NO intention of being involved in the trial process in any way.”
Gunna added that he also still loves his relationship with other YSL members. He even condemned them as being a gang when he joined in 2016, but “more like a group of people from metro Atlanta who had common interests and artistic aspirations.” He will also educate young men and women about the dangers of street gangs.
