Juice WRLD’s estate sells his catalog in nine-figure deal to Opus Music Group

Back in December 2019, the music industry lost one of its biggest rising stars, in Juice WRLD. At the time, the Chicago rapper passed away as a result of a drug overdose, after landing from a private jet, in his hometown. Two posthumous studio albums have since been released, which were “Legends Never Die” in 2020 and “Fighting Demons” in 2021. Each went on to have a number one and two debut in the US.

However, Juice’s estate has also sold his catalog, as this deal is said to have been done in 2022, according to Billboard. It’s stated that Juice’s rights and income streams were sold to Opus Music Group in early 2022, as part of a nine-figure deal. Opus now has 90% of his interest in master recording income and 90% of his share of publishing ownership.

As a result, what’s included in this catalog are hundreds of unreleased material, including all of his released records. Therefore, ownership of Juice’s master recordings are staying with his label partners, Grade A Productions and Interscope Records.

“To represent the body of work of Juice Wrld – whose cultural significance and generational influence can’t be overstated – is an honor and a responsibility,” said Opus to Billboard.

Juice’s last posthumous single released was “Face 2 Face,” in December. That went on to see a number 92 debut on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
