Kanye West postpones Yeezy-Gap release after Texas mass shooting
On Tuesday, the U.S suffered another mass school shooting. 19 children, and two adults, were shot and killed at Robb Elementary, in Uvalde, Texas. The shooter was just 18-years-old, as he ended up being shot and killed by a police officer, on the scene. Prior to the school shooting, be shot his grandma in the head.
Many celebrities have since been using their platforms to address the tragedy, and call for more stronger gun control. This has been a frequent issue in Texas, as well.
Kanye West also postponed the release of his new GAP and Yeezy collaboration, today. This was to instead pay homage, to the lives lost in Ulvade.
“In light of the tragedy in Uvalde, Texas, we are postponing the Yeezy Gap Engineered By Balenciaga launch until Friday, May 27, as revealed in a statement. “As we pause, our hearts go out to the families and communities impacted.”
Among the items that were supposed to be sold in this Yeezy & GAP launch, were denim jackets, jeans, t-shirts, high-top boots, gloves, masks, and hoodies. Kanye initially signed a 10-year deal with GAP, back in the summer of 2020.
