Kendrick Lamar’s “Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers” goes platinum

In May, Kendrick Lamar finally released his first studio album, in over five years. This was “Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers,” as it was his fifth album.

Kendrick provided 18 songs in total, as it served as a double album. He also collaborated with stars such as Kodak Black, Summer Walker, Ghostface Killah, Baby Keem, and more, on this project. Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers went on to become Kendrick’s third consecutive number one album. It was also the biggest first week in sales for an album in 2022, at the time.

Now, Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers has achieved another huge milestone. It’s sold over 1 million units in the US, which takes it to platinum status, per Chart Data. All of Kendrick’s last four albums have at least reached this platinum mark.

Over a year ago, Kendrick also revealed that Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers will be his final album, on Top Dawg Entertainment. He had been with this Los Angeles-based record label, for over 15 years. Now, Kendrick is working on his PgLang label, which has seen plenty of success, so far. Baby Keem is also on this roster, as he’s Kendrick’s cousin.
