Nia Long asks for primary custody of son over Ime Udoka

Last summer saw NBA Head Coach Ime Udoka get fired from his position with the Boston Celtics, after it was revealed that he had a consensual relationship with a team staffer. Furthermore, that also came as he was engaged to Nia Long, and the two having one child together, which is their 11-year-old son, Kez. Udoka and Long had been a couple for 13 years. As a result, the Celtics suspended Udoka for the 2022-23 NBA season, and moved on with Joe Mazulla as the new head coach, instead.

Meanwhile, Nia Long is now seeking primary legal and physical custody of her and Udoka’s son, according to TMZ. This comes as a result of her claiming that Udoka hasn’t been supporting the child. Long initially filed paperwork in Los Angeles last week. However, she did ask the judge to allow Udoka “a reasonable opportunity” to visit their son that which is “consistent with the child’s best interest.” Meanwhile, the judge here has not made an official decision on this request, as of now.

Udoka has since been hired as the new head coach for the Houston Rockets. He had been pursued by several other NBA teams for their head coaching vacancies, as well.
