Nike officially cuts ties with Kyrie Irving, after recently suspending their business relationship

Nike officially ends relationship with Kyrie Irving
Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving has definitely been a huge trending topic, over the past month. This is due to him initially tweeting out a link to a documentary which contained anti-Semitic content. This resulted in him being suspended by the Nets, as well as his relationship with Nike.
Kyrie had to fulfill a list of requirements needed by the Nets, to return to the team, and needed to apologize. That was completed, as he has since been solid for the Nets, but they stand at eighth in the East, at 13-12.
However, Kyrie has now officially lost his Nike endorsement deal, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania. On Monday, the brand announced that they officially cut ties with him. Nike Cofounder and Chairman Phil Knight initially told CNBC that that relationship was “likely over.”
“Kyrie stepped over the line. It’s kind of that simple,” Knight explained. “He made some statements that we just can’t abide by, and that’s why we ended the relationship. I was fine with that.”
Kyrie’s relationship with Nike coming to an end appeared to be inevitable. The upcoming release of his signature Kyrie 8 sneaker was halted, as that was the same time that Kyrie’s relationship with Nike was suspended.
