Rolling Loud holds panel & discussion on stage to support RAP Act
On Friday afternoon, Rolling Loud‘s annual festival in Miami officially kicked off, at Hard Rock Stadium, as Hip-HopVibe was on-site to cover all the action. Furthermore, RL used their platform to address a major trending topic in hip-hop. This is that many rappers’ lyrics are being used against them in legal cases.
As a result, Rolling Loud Co-Founder Tariq Cherif took the stage before Ice Spice’s performance on the Gopuff stage. Therefore, he brought out the Black Music Action Coalition, and Congressmen Hank Johnson (D GA-4) & Jamaal Bowman (D NY-16,) to hold a rally for the RAP Act.
As a result, each spoke on the importance of getting this act passed, to protect rappers who’ve been affected by lyrics being used against them in court, such as Young Thug in his federal RICO case, who’s trial has yet to begin, and bond was denied for a fourth time, on Friday afternoon. A panel was also held inside of the festival, to offer a deeper in-depth discussion on getting the RAP Act passed.
