Coolio’s son says he passed away due to heart attack
Last month, hip-hop fans were shocked to find out that Coolio passed away. At the time, he was in Los Angeles, at the home of a friend. Coolio was in the bathroom for a while, and his friend went on to check on him. The Compton rapper was found unconscious, as EMTs were soon called to the home. It was suspected at the time, that he suffered a heart attack, and was in cardiac arrest.
Therefore, Friends of Coolio later went on to say that he was dealing with bad asthma, and that may have contributed to his death. However, in a new interview with The U.S Sun, Coolio’s son, Artis Ivey III, is confirming even more details. But, Ivey also explained that Coolio was dealing with “real bad asthma,” and did die of a heart attack.
“My dad was having a couple of health complications. He was taking care of those things. A lot was going on with asthma, real bad asthma. He was for the most part drug-free, but my dad lived for the day, everyone in life has their vices, but those vices never really affected him as a father or a man. He died of natural causes. He just had a heart attack.”
Coolio broke out as a star back in 1995, with his “Gangsta’s Paradise” single. That went on to become the number one song in the US, on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. He went on to release nine studio albums, in his career. This month, Coolio was also set to perform at his own Las Vegas residency.
