SZA releases “Ctrl” deluxe edition on five-year anniversary
June 9 is the five year-anniversary of the release of SZA’s debut studio album, “Ctrl.” This project was led by hits such as “The Weekend,” “Drew Barrymore,” and “Love Galore,” featuring Travis Scott.
Ctrl went on to top the Billboard 200 chart, and kicked off summer 2017 with a bang. 14 songs were released in total on Ctrl, as featured artists included were Kendrick Lamar, Isaiah Rashad, and more.
Earlier in the week, SZA teased putting out unreleased songs from 2017, to celebrate Ctrl’s five-year anniversary. These would be songs recorded from 2014-2017. Now, SZA has just put out seven unreleased songs from Ctrl, for its deluxe edition. These include an extended version of Love Galore, “2AM,” “Miles,” and more.
“This is JUST a gift for camp ctrl,” said SZA on Twitter, on Thursday. “Nothing more nothing less . if u family you get it . 5 yrs is a long time . Thank you for changing my life I love you . Happy anniversary #HAPPYCTRLANNIVERSARY”
A few days ago, Ctrl also officially spent five full years, on the Billboard 200. That became the third debut album by a female artist, to set that mark.
Fans also hope that SZA’s sophomore album is coming soon, as well. Ctrl was the last full project released by her. Over the past year and a half though, SZA has seen massive success with singles such as “Good Days” and “I Hate U.”
