T.I. names his top five influential Atlanta rap albums

For the past 22 years, Atlanta has been the epicenter of hip-hop. The city has seen legends emerge, such as T.I., Jeezy, Ludacris, Outkast, and more. There are debates today on who is on the Mt. Rushmore of Atlanta hip-hop, as well as the top five best albums to come out of Atlanta.

T.I. recently appeared in an interview with Just Blaze and sneaker customizer Katty Customs for Uproxx, as he was asked his top five rap most influential albums from Atlanta. He included Outkast’s “Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik, Goodie Mob’s “Soul Food,”  Young Thug’s “Slime Season,” Future’s “Dirty Sprite,” and  21 Savage’s “I Am> I Was.

Surprisingly, no albums from Ludacris, Jeezy or Gucci Mane made the cut. Surprisingly. T.I. didn’t even list any of his albums, as he’s had several classics. For many Atlanta hip-hop fans in today’s era though, they are huge 21 Savage and Young Thug fans, who would likely agree with T.I.’s choices. For fans of Atlanta rap since the 1990s and 2000s, they would disagree. Regardless, these debates will forever be ongoing.
