Young Thug’s lawyers file motion in attempt to clear Thug’s lyrics and social media posts from being used against him

Young Thug’s lawyers file motion to dismiss lyrics from being used

It’s been over six months now, since Young Thug and Gunna were indicted in a 56-count RICO case. 26 other members of their YSL crew also face indictments. Law enforcement stated that they participated in criminal street gang activities such as murders, as well.

Since the indictment, Thug and Gunna have each had their requests for bond denied, three times each. As a result, their trials will be held on January 5, 2023. However, there was an attempt to delay the trial, to March, by Atlanta D.A Fani Willis. This was due to other YSL members not being able to find legal representation. That motion was denied by a judge.

Now, there is a new development in Thug’s case. According to documents obtained by AllHipHop, his attorney has filed a motion to dismiss Thug’s lyrics and social media posts from being used against him in court. Many of these lyrics hint at Thug and YSL targeted people they’ve feuded with, including allegedly shooting at YFN Lucci’s mother.

“The admission and use of these lyrics/poetry/artistry against [Young Thug] in his upcoming trial would be a Constitutional violation and an abuse of discretion, too prejudicial and unconstitutional. Moreover, using these lyrics/poetry/artistry/speech against [Young Thug] is racist and discriminatory because the jury will be so poisoned and prejudiced by these lyrics/poetry/artistry/speech.”
