People like to forget that the Golden State Warriors are just off two runs to the NBA Finals and 67 and a record-setting 73 wins, respectively. All of that took place without Kevin Durant. Back then, Steph Curry was the team’s most-recognized figure.
When looking at the business angle, the Warriors made the smart move by signing Kevin Durant. Not only did they sign a big name, they crippled the Oklahoma City Thunder. Don’t forget how the Thunder nearly beat the Warriors, going up 3-1 on them.
But, the Warriors did something Kevin Durant has never done before, in winning an NBA title. So, it’s absurd for any NBA fans to believe that the 67 win Warriors for the second time in three seasons would struggle without KD against the Blazers in the first round. After the blowout win, the Warriors fans celebrated their win with “No KD.”
